SPECIAL MEETING BOARD OF TRUSTEES

DATE: WEDNESDAY, August 7, 2002

TIME: 6:30 P.M.

PLACE: RIVERGOLD ELEMENTARY

CALL TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE The meeting was called to order at 6:37 p.m. by Chairperson Christine Wilder. All present stood and Mrs. Wilder led the flag salute.

Absent: John Reynolds

Staff: Bill McCabe, Pat Hansen-Sedor, Randy Haggard

SCHOOL OFFICE A quick tour of the changes in the school office was conducted.

APPROVAL OF AGENDA Additions to the agenda:

Consideration and Action on Sealing Lower Field Area Basketball Courts – Coarsegold campus

Updates: Cafeteria Equipment necessary repairs and Portable Classrooms on-line timeline – Rivergold

Bill McCabe presented to board members the schedule for the staff inservices August 14, 15, and 16. He noted that a presentation would be made to the board on discipline at the next board meeting.

A motion was made by Cheryl Anderson and seconded by Sue O’Connor to approve the agenda as amended. The voice vote for approval was unanimous.

Sealing Basketball Courts Mr. McCabe reviewed the need to seal the lower field area basketball courts and approximate costs of $8,900 to $10,135 that would be charged to the deferred maintenance account.

A motion was made by Cheryl Anderson and seconded by David Salisbury to authorize the sealing of the basketball courts on the lower field area. The voice vote for approval was unanimous.

Update Cafeteria Equipment Mr. McCabe noted that the walk-in freezer at Rivergold and the dishwasher at Coarsegold were both inoperable and would need repair immediately before the start of school.

Update Portable Classrooms Mr. McCabe noted that it would be about 4 weeks before the new portable classrooms at Rivergold would be on-line for use.

Policy Series 5000-5141.31 Board Policy and the Administrative Regulations 5000-5141.31 were reviewed and revised.

A motion was made by Cheryl Anderson and seconded by Sue O’Connor to approve as the first reading BP/AR 5000-5141.31 except for AR 5131.62 Discipline and AR 5132 Dress & Grooming. The voice vote for approval was unanimous

NEXT MEETING DATE

a. The next meeting was rescheduled from August 21 due to Back to School Night at Coarsegold to August 28^th at Rivergold Elementary - 6:30 p.m.

b. Policy Workshop is tentatively set for September 4, 2002 at Coarsegold School Library.

ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
