ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING BOARD OF TRUSTEES

DATE: WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 11, 2002

CALL TO ORDER/FLAG SALUTE

The meeting was called to order at 7:32 p.m. by Chairperson Christine Wilder. All present stood and Mrs. Wilder led the flag salute.

ROLL CALL

Board: Christine Wilder, Sue O’Connor, Kathy Casey, Greg Schoonard, and John Reynolds

Staff: Bill McCabe, Srini Vasan, Pat Hansen-Sedor, Randy Haggard, Bob Rose, Stuart Pincus, Julie Davenport, Katy Penton, Irene Keener, and John McMillen

Audience: Matthew Casey, Erin Casey, Matthew Davenport, Bethany Davenport, Dean Dew, Johnathan Dew, David Dew, Katie Talbot, Geff Davenport, Molly Casey, Jan Schoonard, and Nancy Flynn

APPROVAL OF AGENDA

A motion was made by John Reynolds and seconded by Sue O’Connor to approve the agenda as presented. The voice vote for approval was unanimous.

SWEARING IN & RE-AFFIRMATION

Christine Wilder administered the Oath of Office to Kathy Casey and Greg Schoonard.

John Reynolds administered the re-affirmation of office to Christine Wilder.

AFFIRMATION OF SUPPORT OF CODE OF ETHICS

A motion was made by John Reynolds and seconded by Sue O’Connor to approve and affirm the board support of the Code of Ethics as presented. The voice vote for approval was unanimous.

ELECTION OF BOARD CHAIRPERSON

A motion was made by Kathy Casey and seconded by Sue O’Connor to nominate John Reynolds as board chair. The voice vote was unanimous.

ELECTION & CERTIFICATION OF CLERK

A motion was made by John Reynolds and seconded by Kathy Casey to nominate Sue O’Connor as board clerk. The voice vote was unanimous.

REPRESENTATIVE TO EXECUTIVE BOARD OF THE MADERA COUNTY SCHOOL BOARDS ASSOCIATION

A motion was made by John Reynolds and seconded by Sue O’Connor to nominate Greg Schoonard as Representative to Executive Board of the Madera County School Boards Association. The voice vote was unanimous.

CONSIDERATION AND ACTION TIME/DATE/PLACE OF TRUSTEE MEETINGS

Greg Schoonard expressed concern that parents were not able to participate or be involved in Wednesday night board meetings due other commitments with youth programs and would like another meeting night considered.

There was a brief discussion on changing to a Tuesday or Thursday night format and what conflicts that might occur because of the number of years that Coarsegold has held Wednesday night board meetings.

A motion was made by John Reynolds and seconded by Greg Schoonard to approve the scheduled January and February Wednesday night board meetings and to bring back in addition to the Wednesday meeting nights schedules for both Tuesday and Thursday nights for consideration. The voice vote for approval was unanimous.

The meeting was adjourned by John Reynolds at 7:46 p.m.
