Parking changes at Coarsegold Elementary

Mr. Haggard - Special to Sierra Star

When we return from Winter Break there are going to be some important changes in our Parking Area and our drop-off procedures at Coarsegold Elementary School. Over the vacation, our grounds and maintenance staff, led by Mr. John McMillen, will be re-configuring our parking area to increase our parking spaces for parents and visitors. Our new drop-off zone will be much longer to improve the safety and efficiency of our drop-off and pick-up (please see diagram with directions on the back of this newsletter).

The new drop-off zone will only be used for a quick drop-off of students. This lane must keep moving so that we do not create a traffic jam. If you need to go to the office or your child’s classroom, please park your car in a designate space and escort your child. No one will be allowed to park in the drop-off zone. Students will not be allowed to walk through the parking area. No students may be dropped off on Road 415.

On Monday, January 6, 2003 it will be essential that everyone follows the new directions. We will have representatives from law enforcement here to assist with the traffic flow. Since there will only be one entrance and one exit to the new parking plan, you should acquaint yourself with the map and allow yourself a few extra minutes during the first week.

This new plan should be safer and more convenient for everyone. We appreciate your patience and your help as we make the change.

Parking/Drop-off Directions

1. Bus Drop-off and Pick-up will now be by the large oak tree off of Meadowbrook Lane in the back corner of our school.

2. Student drop-off zone in the parking area will be in the red zone. Cars will enter at the driveway that previously was used for buses. This entrance will be one-way only all day. In the drop-off zone, students will only exit cars on the passenger side. This needs to be done quickly to keep traffic moving in this lane. No one will be allowed to stop in the drop-off zone except for a quick drop-off of students. All cars will exit the parking lot out the one way exit.

3. There will be increased parking capacity for visitors or parents who have business in the office or their child's classroom.

4. No one will be allowed to enter campus directly from Road 415.

5. No children will be allowed to cross though the parking lot unless escorted by a parent or guardian.
