COARSEGOLD — The Coarsegold Special Education students, with teachers Nancy Harmelin, Devvie McMillan, Bonnie Trimble, Patricia Vallentyne and Holly Longatti, are learning the value of hard-earned money.

The students, Robbie Drosche, Christian Drosche, Bryan Guilliams, Natalie Grimm, Angela Mecham, Sara Krebs, Anna Saxton, Gabriel Allen and Travis Rogozienski, worked hard to crush a collection of aluminum cans, then took them to the Heartland Recycling facility.

The money they received for the cans was used for a fun day of bowling at Sierra Lanes in Oakhurst, plus a tasty lunch at a fast-food restaurant. What better way for kinds to learn a lesson in becoming part of the community’s work force?
