Staff member Jeff Grant and second grader, Erin Asis, cut the ribbon
on the remodeled Coarsegold Elementary School office.
A
ribbon cutting ceremony was held for the newly remodeled Coarsegold
Elementary School office November 14 with special recognition going
to Jeff Grant for all the labor he personally put into the project.
Mr. Grant is lead maintenance and part-time bus driver for Coarsegold
Elementary.
All Coarsegold Elementary students and staff attended, as second
grader Erin Asis who contributed to the project by representing
the average student in school for height measurements for the counters,
along with Principal Randy Haggard presented Mr. Grant a gift certificate
on behalf of the school and its members. Together Erin and Mr. Grant
cut the ribbon to the new school office.
Mr. Haggard said he felt "first impressions are very important
and the need for proper workspace and office flow are vital."
The remodeled office now flows smoothly meeting student and staff
needs. The new entrance is located in an inviting manner in the
front of the parking area for parents and visitors, Mr. Haggard
noted.
The cost of the remodeling was $60,000 with funds coming from developer
fees. Costs were kept down with the personal support of Mr. Grant
who did most of the work himself such as demolition, framing of
walls and windows, sheet rock and installing conduit.
Mr. Haggard has now completed two of the three projects he set as
his personal goals since taking over as principal at Coarsegold
Elementary two years ago. The parking lot has been redesigned and
updated for better safety and accessibility, the office has been
remodeled and is open to improve service to students, parents and
community, and a multi-purpose room is currently in its planning
stages.
