Coarsegold School students delivered 1,433 cans of food to Manna
House on Friday, November 21. Student body officers, parent volunteers,
and the entire kindergarten class with their teacher, Mrs. Fruth
helped unload and haul the goods into the facility.
COARSEGOLD
— For the past seven years, Coarsegold Elementary School has conducted
a canned food drive. This year the drive ran Nov. 3 - Nov. 19. All
grades participated for a chance to deliver the food to Manna House.
Top classes were: fourth place was Mr. Rudholm’s fourth grade class
with 94; third place went to Ms. Smittle’s second grade class with
123 cans while Mrs. Hurd’s sixth grade math classes took second
place and collected 175 cans. The winner, with 217 cans, was the
kindergarten class of Mrs. Fruth. The school total was 1,433 for
an average of 10.8 cans per student. It was the first time that
a kindergarten class collected the most.
On hand to help the kindergartners unload at the Manna House were
student body officers, Alex Davis, president; Philip Fayne, vice
president; Taylor Veater, treasurer; Sammy Norberg and Jodee McMillen,
co-activities directors; and Kathryn Parr, secretary. Parent volunteers

Vice President Taylor Veater commented, “I’m happy to help.”
Student Body President Davis said, “I just think this is really
awesome the kids did this. They brought in almost 1500 cans. It
