COARSEGOLD — On
Wednesday, August 27, Coarsegold Elementary School held its annual Back-to-School
Night. New families were welcomed, and parents and students were introduced
to returning teachers, new teachers and to programs for the new year.
In addition, the school celebrated the completed installation of a new
playground structure with a traditional ribbon cutting ceremony.
Principal Randy Haggard said, “This was the result of a community wide
effort. The PTA spearheaded the year-long project.”
According to the principal, the new equipment replaced an old, outdated,
and not-so-safe play structure, with a top-of-the-line, safe unit.
“Best I’ve ever seen,” was a common comment.
After the ribbon cutting by PTA President Kari McCully, PTA member Kristi
Ferguson, Vice Principal Stewart Pincus and Principal Randy Haggard,
another ceremony was held.
Russ Holcomb, the Executive Director of the Eastern Madera Chamber of
Commerce, formally presented a check for $2,000 to the school. The money
was earned by Coarsegold Elementary School volunteers who manned entrance
gates during the Memorial Day weekend Peddlers Fair. The actual check
was given shortly after the fair in June.
