Members of the Cougar Club were visited by the Hensley Park Rangers.
The Cougar Club
is Coarsegold School’s After School Program, directed by Renee’
Medley. The Hensley Park Rangers came to the Cougar Club on Thursday,
April 22 to teach the children about water safety near lakes, rivers,
and swimming pools.
The kids also learned about boating safety. The best surprise was
the visit from Bobby Beaver. There were two programs, one for the
kindergarten students and the other for the first through eighth
grade students. The Cougar Club hopes all the children learn to
swim and float.
“It’s important to learn how pollution harms the beavers and all
other animals and how to be safe by wearing life jackets and other
lessons regarding boating safety,” said Mrs. Medley.
Lindsey Soares is in fourth grade and she had this to say about
the Hensley Park Rangers and the Water Safety program, “I thought
it was cool because I got to hug Bobby Beaver.” Kelsi Steiler a
first grader said, “I like it because I learned 10 water safety
lessons.” Kaylee Enyart, a third grader, said, “I really liked learning
what to do when I go with my family to the lake.”
